Helping P.A.W.S. Help PAWS

Animals like Baxter, a 9-month-old American Blue Heeler, Peanut, a 4-month-old Domestic Shorthair kitten, and Maggie, a 3-year-old Mini Lop mix, are seeking forever families and need help with food, shelter, and medical care while waiting in foster homes. Organizations such as P.A.W.S. Hancock provide these essentials through the help of donations that sustain the shelter and the animals in our care.

Whether it’s through time or finances, P.A.W.S. Hancock has several ways you can get involved and help the homeless animals in the community.

1. Make a Monetary Donation: Financial contributions are vital for P.A.W.S. to provide essential care because we do not receive government funding. Every donated dollar significantly impacts our animals by providing food, supplies, behavioral training, and veterinary care such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and medical treatments. Additionally, donations to 501(c)(3) organizations can be tax-deductible.

2. Volunteer Your Time: Offer your time at P.A.W.S. to assist with tasks like fostering (caring for an animal in your home until they find their forever home), helping with adoption or fundraising events, administration, cleaning, caring for cats at PetSmart, sewing cat toys, etc. Like most shelters, P.A.W.S. depends on volunteers to provide the hands-on care that animals require.

3. Donate Supplies: P.A.W.S. animals are always in need of food, crates/cages, bedding, toys, cleaning supplies, and items that can be sold in our retail store to raise funds for animal care. Supply donations contribute to the well-being and comfort of our animals while maximizing our financial resources.

4. Adopt: Consider adopting a pet from a shelter such as P.A.W.S. instead of purchasing from a pet store. Every animal in our care is seeking a fresh start. Whether lost, surrendered, or abandoned, they’re all without a home and in need of care. By welcoming them into your loving home, you’re providing these vulnerable animals with a new chance at life while also making room in the rescue for another animal in need.
