Volunteer Feature - Kristin Jacobi

Updated: May 10

The Partners For Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Hancock County is successful because of our community members and volunteers, such as Kristin Jacobi. Learn more about Kristin in this Volunteer Feature blog.

Kristin is originally from Southwest Florida. When she met her husband, they moved to Hancock County, Indiana to be closer to family. Kristin enjoys living in Hancock County because of the green spaces to explore. You may even see Kristin and her family rollerblading on the Pennsy Trail! Her journey with PAWS began when she was looking for an affordable way to neuter a cat she had found. Afterward, she and her husband reconnected with PAWS at a Petsmart Adoption Event in December 2023, and she has been a volunteer ever since!

PAWS asked Kristin a few questions to allow you to get to know her and why she enjoys volunteering for PAWS. Below are her responses.

🐾 What are your favorite parts about volunteering with PAWS?

Photo of Kristin and her daughter holding a cat wearing a cone.

I started volunteering to clean at Petsmart which led to helping at the Petsmart Adoption events. I enjoy helping connect families with their new best friend! Volunteering has allowed me to meet and connect with many awesome community people. A bonus to helping out at the Adoption Events is building friendships with other volunteers!

🐾 Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

We have a one-year-old Aussie named Koda. Then also have two cats named Grant and Titten.

🐾 Finish the sentence - “I realized I wanted to volunteer with PAWS when…”

I asked about the cleaning that is needed for the Petsmart cat room. I also was encouraged to apply by other volunteers!

🐾 What have you gained from your volunteer experience with PAWS Hancock?

I have gained more knowledge about how to advocate for animals in need!

🐾 Which PAWS event do you look forward to?

I look forward to the Adoption Events at Petsmart. These occur every 3rd and 4th Saturday of every month at the Petsmart in Greenfield, IN.

🐾 How would you respond if someone told you they were interested in volunteering with PAWS Hancock?

I would tell someone interested in volunteering to go to the PAWS of Hancock County website and apply! There are so many ways to help out and volunteer.

🐾 In your opinion, why is it important to have a community of volunteers to support PAWS?

The more volunteers and fosters that PAWS has we have, the more animals that find homes. Volunteers can help find animals in need a furever home!

🐾 Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Everyone in the PAWS community wants the best for the animals and each other. My time as a volunteer has made me feel like I am making a difference! PAWS is such a great organization to volunteer my time to.
